N&W J 611 and Frisco 1522 teamed up for the 1994 NRHS convention based at Atlanta, GA. Frisco 1522 leads off on it's run to Macon via ex-Central of Georgia trackage before N&W 611 joins her at Macon for a doubleheader run to Atlanta on ex-Southern Ry trackage. Then, the 611 is found on it's run to Lula, GA and back with special NS diesels running the train to Athen's, Ga and back as the 611 is serviced at Lula. Next, the 1522 leads the 611 on a run to Chattanooga to close the convention. Tennessee Valley RR Museum's 2-8-0 610 is found at East Chattanooga with it's regular run as the Doubleheader passes in a nice whistle salute. Then, on the Monday after the convention, 1522 heads for home pulling a short freight train with a nice caboose at the end.
Norfolk Southern ended their original steam program just six months after these two classic locomotives made their last appearance together.
