042 NEW YORK CENTRAL INDIANA DIVISION 1956 Volume 2
ON SALE to June 15th! 52 minutes - B&W & Color - Narrated - Real NYC Sound, much of it recorded on the scene when filmed
Continuing from Volume 1 of this series, and from 16mm film by Donald J. Krofta, the action begins on the Michigan Branch local trains operating out of Wabash, Indiana to Marion, Indiana with 2-8-2's. A local is followed to Marion and then Don stopped at Payne, OH to grab a nice interlude of NKP steam. Returning to Cincinnati over several visits in 1956 - 57, the last days of steam are featured with 4-8-2 Mohawks running in tandem or as helpers as diesels began to infiltrate the Cincinnati to Greensburg segment.
Mikados are seen on the Whitewater Branch and in yard service at Riverside Yard in Cincinnati. There are Mikados in the 1300, 1400, 1500 and 1900 series plus L2, L3, and L4 Mohawks and 0-8-0 switchers.
Also included in this volume is footage at Greensburg, IN whit L2 and L3 power plus an ex-Indiana Harbor Belt 2-8-2. Don also used more color film in this program that in volume 1.
Diesels shown include NYC's original ALCO FA 1000, FM C-Liners, and EMD F7's.
After steam's demise on the Indiana Division, the action switches to the Ohio Central Division (not today's Ohio Central RR) where first generation diesels are featured in the 1960's. You'll find EMD F unite, FM C-Liners, and ALCO FA's as well as GP 9's and GP 20's. The Ohio Central portion is all color except for one scene. If you have Volume 1, you don't want to miss Volume 2!
